“Hire the person, not the resume”.

Amy Parrack

As Will Guidara writes in his book ‘Unreasonable hospitality’, “Hire the person, not the resume”.

We stuck true to this ethos and when beginning the search for two new team members, following our own accidental method we set before with our other assistants, Anna, George and Carolina. To look beyond and outside the world of hairdressing…

Amy actually first met us as a client in January 2024. Perhaps it was a glimpse of the team at work firsthand, and her own interest in hair that led Amy to applying to undertake her apprenticeship 8 months later when she noticed a post that we had started the search for two new assistants.

This was a big career change from a promising previous 5 years working in set production on films such as Cruella and Ridley Scotts Napoleon .

Amy has brought not only a beautiful personality to the team, though an inherently artistic and creative vision - Often behind the camera on our training days, taking pictures for the team post haircuts or arranging the weekly flowers for the space.

When you meet Amy, whether during a hair wash or helping us diffusing, pick her brains on her love of music, photography and all things Norwich.

Amy has effortlessly transitioned across from lights, camera and action to blowdries, shampoo and achieving true flat white satisfaction.
