How to wear- The Sirène.

The Epitome Of Effortless Hair.

The simplicity of The Sirène means you can leave it to your hair cut, your natural hair texture and a little product to work in unison; without the need for excessive styling.

That said, it is no secret that styling wavy and curly hair can feel intimidating at times.

We want to change this, stripping drying hair back to the necessities.

Over the years we have learnt the most about drying hair naturally - not by reading and researching hundreds of articles. It was honestly as simple as asking women with amazing hair what their personal tried and tested routines were.

One thing every single one of these women had in common, was that they all pretty much disregarded the “how to use” directions on the back of their product bottles.

What became clear to us over time (and we will still see throughout our career we are sure), is that what works for one person doesn’t always work for the next. There are basic principles to follow, but once you know these, you can create your own routine.

There is no set rule book when it comes to styling your own hair, just great tips, a little knowledge - both of which can be passed on.

Our mission has never been to make our clients ditch heat styling their hair completely..

Why not enjoy and appreciate your natural hair and its subtle differences 5 days a week saving time rushing to work, uni, the school run…and perhaps wear a styled blow dry for the weekend when you have more time? It keeps hair feeling interesting, exciting and not quite so predictable as a go to blow dry - 7 days a week.

We have been lucky enough to have had a number of our clients with ‘The Sirène’ share their favourite styling methods on a day to day basis.

We hope that you find their routines as helpful as we did!

Figuring out how to embrace my natural hair has been a long journey that's included everything from terrible straightening jobs to very crunchy hair gel.

I've now found a low maintenance routine centered around a few tricks I swear by. The first of which is to comb my hair while it has conditioner in it in the shower. I never brush my hair, unless I'm blow drying it or more accurately, unless Nick is blow drying it.

Once I've detangled and rinsed out the conditioner I put leave-in conditioner (any of the Garnier Fructis ones) on soaking wet hair and then squeeze out the excess moisture. After the shower I twist my hair up in a microfiber towel for about four minutes. I then flip my head over and spray a little OGX Sea Salt Spray all over scrunching as I go. From there I let my hair air dry. This routine works for me whether I'm going out or going to bed and sleeping on wet hair. I usually wash my hair 2-3 times per week.

Of course this all centers around a great cut and healthy hair.

I’m super lazy so generally it’s only washed once or twice a week & products are minimal/none! Sometimes a bit of Hershesons AEC on dry hair or hairstory hair balm as I get out the shower and 99.9% of the time it’s air dried...

Genuinely truly though I always look forward to having my hair cut with you, I used to put off going to the hairdressers and would dread them picking through my hair as they decided what they’d want to do to it, sit through dry chat and then leave fairly nonplussed with the end result - coming to you was the best hair decision I’ve ever made ♥️

In terms of styling, after washing my hair (I use olaplex when I wash it!)  I put in some curl crème or mousse (anything without any nasty things for curly hair like silicone) and then I tie it up in a t shirt (plopping) and go to sleep!

The upkeep of my hair consists of just flipping my head over and spraying it with some salt water or normal water in a spray bottle in the mornings, followed by scrunching sections of my hair to liven up the curls. And I NEVER brush it! I will just deal with the knots with my fingers. Brushing it kills the curls and makes it frizzy!

No heat either, just pure air.

Day 1:

I’m very low maintenance with my hair. I don’t say that to brag - it’s more from sheer laziness. I’ve always let my hair dry naturally to keep it as healthy as possible and have actually never owned a hair dryer (my friends think this is weird too).

I’m lucky that I have naturally wavy hair, but it can look slightly frizzy if I don’t use any product or dry it in a certain way.

I brush my hair in the shower when I have the conditioner on and before I wash it off. If I brush it after it will dry frizzy or without much shape. Once it’s washed I squeeze excess water out of my hair and will dry it using a cotton t-shirt.

Once it’s still wet but not soaking I use a small amount of Hersheons Almost Everything Cream or Hair Story Hair Balm combing it through with my fingers or a wide tooth comb, distributing it evenly through my hair rather than scrunching. I will then flip my hair upside down and scrunch Superdrug Style Expertise Mousse into my hair from the roots to tip.

I will then leave it to Air Dry. I had an amazing cut from Sean last time so I still have some shaping round my face but sometimes I will tuck my fringe pieces behind my ears to dry so it gives them a little shape. I’ve also started sleeping on a silk pillowcase as the hair at my root is very coarse and frizzy - so seeing if this makes any difference.

Day 2:

I suffer from oily hair so I will often have to use dry shampoo on day 2. I try to use a minimal amount and will spray it from a distance so it doesn’t overload my roots and make them stiff. I will then scrunch some water through my hair and then use the wide tooth comb to gently detangle it - combing outwards so it still holds the wave. If I brush it, it will instantly be fluffy and frizzy so I have to do this instead.

I will then rub in some texturizing cream or use a texturising spray to bring it back to life.

In terms of styling it, I mostly leave it to air dry, I sometimes clip my fringe pieces to the side (while it’s drying) to help give it a swooping shape. If I’m feeling a bit more fancy, I will loosely tong my hair and use some sugar spray to add a bit more texture.

I did nothing but let it air dry. I love using RAHUA UV barrier leave-in spray, it hydrates my locks so well and makes them super bouncy! I like to use a silicone brush to massage the scalp when washing my hair. Not every time but a few times per week. I have many shampoo and don't always use the same one but would love to buy and try all of RAHUA they look really amazing for natural wavy hair. No fixing spray in any of the pic - I find it dries my hair. I spray a bit of RAHUA on the next day.
